Urban Renewal, Sector Six Style
I’ve been a
little busy over the past couple of weeks rebuilding and touching up the city
terrain for my gaming club. It’s been
somewhat of a chore, but I can hardly complain, as I managed to volunteer
myself for the job.
I modified our
existing templates to block true LOS, and I added some smaller pieces
for variety. Also, I dug out the old GW paper city mat and donated it. I have a
couple more buildings to go, and then this project is complete.
A very nice set up there! I'm well into the planning stage of something similar, using the germ of a Traveller inspired idea with GZG nations troops. A mostly agricultural (Sword World) with
ReplyDeletetwo distinct populations (Germanic & English/American) with about a 1950s technology in a long
drawn out war. Then two intergalactic corporations found a very rear element in abundance on this planet, so contracted units of mercenaries. The mercenaries are only to support one of the rival factions and not fight each other directly (at least at first, wont last) I plan to run this for a few battles then introduce an alien (Kra'Vak) invasion.....should be bloody and nasty and allot of fun....)
...and when the Kra'vak arrive...
Deleteyou get the scene above. Those railguns are very destructive.
Sounds like a great setup. I''l be looking for the batreps on your blog.
Still ve to order the Kra'vak.....)
DeleteThat's a pretty serious campaign that's been going on there, it would seem. Congrats on getting through what looks like a substantial project. Volunteering is one of those things that always feels a little intimidating, but generally comes out well.
ReplyDeleteIt was a unique project, in that so much of the stuff was built. So a big priority was to leave everyone's contributions intact while updating and adding to the collection.
DeleteIt was a nice and different kind of challenge.
"Paper city mat"? What is that?
ReplyDeleteSometime around 2007ish, Games Workshop did a big "Cityfight" push, with a codex, campaign and all the usual trappings. One of the things they produced was a cityfight mat. This was before everyone was making them. They are glossy and fragile, but they look pretty good as you can see. Mine has sat in storage, and what a terrible place for toys to be.
DeleteIt seems much happier now.
I have that Cityfight Codex, just don't recall the mat. (sad face)
DeleteDon't feel too bad.
DeleteI bet every one that isn't squirreled away, disintegrated within 6 months.
