Ocrade: The Reich Closes In

After the failure of the frontal assault (here), Baroness Niehoff pulls back and manuevers against a defense outpost on the edge of the main Nusling complex. The Baroness will never admit that her officers were correct by advising this more deliberate attack.  Instead she orders the execution of the Landing Officer for incompetence on the basis that the initial attack only failed because his landing was too slow thus not enough units were dirtside or available. Such is life serving the "master race".
Time is now hard against the forces of the Reich, if they cannot achieve a breakthough here, they will leave Ocrade empty handed.  To stay any longer would mean annihilation by the Imperial rescue fleet.

The target of the attack is this defense bunker:
The Baroness herself leads a frontal attack to pin any mobile units and keep their attention
The main attack will be made on the Nazi right by a company of light armor. Smoke is dropped to cover their advance
The defense by the mercenaries hired by Nusling is heavily anchored on the bunker with a few screening units covering the hills on their left, and out of position to check the Nazi armor
The Baroness' plan to keep the defender's attention forward works almost too well, and artillery hits the attackers before they even leave their line of departure
...but the armor goes in
and with cries of "Eben-Emael!!!" Fallschirmjägers drop right onto the bunker
The breakthrough is achieved and the Nusling complex is laid bare to the Nazi depredations!

NEXT: The complex is doomed! Will the secret rescue team from Colores get there in time to rescue Dr. D'Ourii?

Ocrade: An Opportunity for Colores

The Governor General is meeting with some trusted advisors and troubleshooter Maj Guiscard at the residence on New Cypress...
Admiral Vallis Larocque: I'm sorry Governor, but there is no possibility of a large intervention of the Colores fleet to save Ocrade.  Besides, the Imperials are on their way, what could we possibly add?

GovGen: I agree, but the Major thinks we may have an opportunity here. Major, please proceed.

Maj Guiscard: The Nazi raid is well under way and by the time the Imperial rescue fleet arrives they might catch a few ships in the withdrawal.  Even if the Imperials recover Nazi prisoners it will be too late for this being,
Doctor Sker Da’Ourii, a Rhodian from the Telel Enclave.  He is on Ocrade conducting power generation and propulsion experiments, and as you know, the Nazis will not take non-humans captive.  If he is found he will be killed.
However, if you follow this jump trace on the Navigation Ansible,
I believe we can rapid transit to the Ocrade system and insert to the surface in time to save the Doctor.

Admiral Larocque: Obviously, this would enhance our research by an order of magnitude.  When can you leave?

Maj Guiscard: My team... ready to depart immediately

Soon After:

Ocrade: Attack on Housing Unit 112

This will be the first "Large" battle of the campaign.  4th Reich Naval and Exo-Atmosphere units achieved dominance of the battlespace, and this begins the ground phase. I am playing the bad guys and my regular opponent, John gave me the choice of the type of ground assault I would like to initiate.

Baroness Niehoff had control of the skies and her next decision was on how to proceed with the task of smashing the dirtside defenses of Nusling Inc.  Some of her Staff suggested a deliberate landing and buildup of forces before advancing on the lucrative research facilities.

The Baroness dismissed them as meek.  There was an immediate drop ordered just outside of the most upscale of the housing units. If "soft" assets could be apprehended and interrogated the Baroness surmised that the more important technical items could be pluundered more quickly.

Nazi raiders are always short of heavier units, but in this case they did manage to get a grenadier company and a panzer into the action.
The Baroness herself would be dropped directly into the complex with a company of robots.
The defenders in this sector were a band of Rhodian mercenaries. They are well equipped with mobile units and had reached the complex almost at exactly the same time as the raiders.
The Nazis blasted the Rhodian forward scouts
...and dropped Fallschirmjägers to grab control of the center.
Undaunted, the Rhodians advanced into the other buildings.  The battle became a bloody urban brawl of close assaults.  After 2 turns of smashmouth combat the Nazis had been bled too severely to take complete control.

The Baroness ordered a withdrawal and moved south to await reinforcements from orbit.
The Nusling employees would pay.

Ocrade Opening Moves

To Recap:
The 4th Reich is raiding an Imperial planet governed under a corporate license.  Ocrade (pronounced oa-kray-dee) is an earth-like planet in the NW region of Sector Six.  The license is held by "Nusling Interstellar Enterprises" and is sparsely settled but industry rich.  A perfect target for Nazi raiders.

Raids of the 4th Reich follow in stages:
1. Isolate the Target
2. Smash Resistance
3. Bring Sufficient Transport
3. Grab the Target Tech and Personnel
4. Exfiltrate

The Raid on Ocrade would follow this pattern.
The first stage of the attack was against Ocrade's Deep Space Survey and Communications Station.  Led by Baroness Dagmara Niehoff and a contingent of the Terror Robots, the Nazi 22nd Exo-Atmosphäre Kommando stormed the small asteroid and took out the Corporate troops before an alam could be sent.
With the Station down, the 717th Raiding Sqn was able to catch the Imperial ships at anchor.
One Imperial ship managed to get clear of the station and jump away.

With the warning out, the clock is ticking on the Baroness and the troops of the 4th Reich!
