Rise of Tyranny Campaign: Conclusion

Preliminary Situation Report 28April2016
From: 1st Titan Army, Kampgruppe Fulkner
To: Reich Kommand, Xochoi
To the Reich High Command, it is with a heavy heart that I send this report with our beloved  leader Otto Fulkner dead, but we all must do our duty as he always said….
Body of Report linked here:

Situation Report, Action at Eleteema
From: 1st Titan Army, 1st Brigade, Kommander Schaklow
To: Reich Kommand, Xochoi
After moving our Titan Spearhead to Eleteema to resume the Offensive, the 1st Brigade advanced uncontested to the Maestri Plain. A force of Imperial Grey Knight Space Marines was detected to the front, and the Titans “Wildschwein” and “Gross Hintern” engaged.
It was an ambush. Our Titans were immediately set upon by an allied gunship that dropped from orbit, and destroyed “Wildschwein” in the first volley.
“Gross Hintern” continued the fight, but, being the only target for the entire Grey Knight force, was soon overwhelmed and destroyed.

Imperial HQ, Rentlaw
Briefing Room
Imperial Sub-Ambassador Sulla Tigh
Gentlemen, it has been a long debate this day, but the inescapable facts are these:

1, Until this cycle, we have been relentlessly pushed backward, .and as of sundown, the Reich’s forces are fully in control of 3 planets of the Rentlaw Sub-Sector.

2. Make no mistake, we cannot continue the fight. We have expended our last major formations, and without naval support, our forward strike capability is down to the few Space Marine contingents.

In conclusion, with our sudden success on Malathorne and the Grey Knights victory against enemy Titans, we are in a better position to request a cessation of hostilities. This we must do.

Governor Lackdust of Rentlaw
I see no point in continuing this conflict.  Ambassador Tigh, please approach the enemy and ask for terms.  You may agree to anything reasonable, and the limit will be that we will not surrender any planet wholly under Imperial control.
29 battles fought in 3 locations on 2 continents!

Final Score
Reich and Allies 16
Imperials and Allies 13
a minor, but clear Victory for the Reich.

After the conclusion of negotiations, the planet Rentlaw itself, will be the only Imperial possession in the Sub-Sector.

The Reich is still hungry, the Imperials are still distracted and weak.  Peace will not last long.

I will provide a campaign ribbon widget to all participants in the next few days, and I will have a follow up post to talk about how the stats, and what I think worked well (and not).  I welcome your input.

BTW -  the Command Console in the Imperial HQ pic is one of my new toys from Zen Terrain.  Great products, great prices. The only downside is that delivery is from Poland, and takes awhile. However, they offer package tracking for free, so I knew where my order was the entire time and that really helped to manage my expectations.

I want to recognize some outstanding contributors to the success of the Campaign!

From all the way across the pond, Frank O'Donnell and his cohorts, giving the fight for Rentlaw international and intergalactic flavor... Thanks

FNP Gamers for their participation.

GOLDMINE GAMES and the owner Mike Gupton for being such a gracious host, promoter, opponent, and friend in this effort.

The 290 Bunker Crew, my home club.  Thanks for welcoming me back a few months ago, and embracing my first effort since my return. ...and thanks for all the games. :)

My son, Robert for joining me in this hobby and pushing me to develop the idea and carry it through with his boundless enthusiasm.

...and the most prolific participant, Chris Wroblewski!
He fought in the most battles, WON the most battles, provided source material and encouraged more people to play.  I never met Chris before this campaign, and I have found him to be a warrior and gentleman of the highest order.  I am glad to have met him.

Finding new friends is a great reward from this hobby. If you play at Goldmine Games, take the time and go out of your way to meet Chris. If you are reading this blog in Ireland, or planning to visit the place, seek out Frank and his club, and if you are looking for a game in my neck of the woods (NW Houston), come on by the clubhouse.

This was a great ride, thanks again to all of you who participated.

Rise of Tyranny Campaign: Week 5 and 6

Imperial Intelligence Briefing
Eleteema Starport
33rd Inf HQ

General Onarisco
First I would like to congratulate the Spacewolves under Cmdr Miller for pushing the Reich off of Eleteema and bringing some success that we can build on.

Our general offensive has pushed to Xochoi, but unfortunately the gains have been offset by the loss of Telebrainia. Our beloved Obsidian Knights have been pushed off planet.  It is rumored that Captain Collier has been wounded. We await further developments.
(Pictures of the action below)

Additionally, we have late word that the Reich has recaptured the Starport on Xochoi, so our forces there are isolated and cannot be resupplied.

We have reports that the Grey Knights under Grand Master Perdon have inflicted a defeat on the our fearsome enemy known as Murderfang. Although that news is heartening, no word yet on his search on whether the rumors that the Reich has fielded Titans are true.

Forward Supply Point, Reich’s 1st Titan Army (formerly, 34th Imperial Titan Legion)
Taxation Distrcit 3, Telebrainia
Reich’s Kommander Schaklow
I would like to recognize Chaos Space Marine Commander Lindsey on his defeat of the Obsidian Knights and the retaking of the Xoxhoi Starport. His victory will free up many troops for the front.

However, we are stalled.  After so much early success, we have now traded this same ground with the Imperials four times.

Oberst Neumann
But Sir, we have destroyed so many of their forces and our new Titans have been upstoppable…

Reich’s Kommander Schaklow
Then why are we fighting back here, instead of the leading edge of our offensive?
We have been too cautious, and secretive. We have been too clever and outsmarted ourselves.

Tomorrow, we will no longer “husband our resources”. Tomorrow that is cowardice.  In the morning, we move the Titan Army to the front and we show the Imperial dogs that nothing but DEATH awaits the enemies of the Reich!

Dun Dun DUN!!!
Apologies for the delay in this post.  Real life decided to rear it's ugly head.  The good news is that the battles are being fought and I really appreciate the enthusiasm of all the players and marvel at all of the games played. Thanks so much!

The two Titans are scratchbuilt (of course), from a whole bunch of disparate parts. I don't have much documentation (pictures) of their construction, but if you have specific questions, I'm more than happy to share anything about what you want to know.

Thanks again for looking

Rise of Tyranny Campaign: Week 4

Imperial Intelligence Brief
A short update this week, as the action is so furious, information becomes outdated before it can even be published.

In general terms, there are simultaneous offensives from the Reich and the Imperials.
The Imperial troops have attacked from Telebrainia into the origin of the Reich's incursion on Xoxhoi. The Reich, has diverted forces from the advance through Sibuka back to Telebrainia in an attempt to stabilize the front.

Alarmingly, there seems to be reports of the Reich employing a Titan in the combat on Telebrainia. Grey Knight Grand Master Aidan Perdon is leading a task force to investigate.

Although a comprehensive analysis is unavailable at this time, the images below should convey the incredible intensity of the fight:

Below are newly published biographies of important Commanders in the Campaign
Commander Profiles

Edgar Crowe
Veteran Sargent, Raven Guard Space Marine Chapter

An up and coming Leader in the Raven Guard, Sgt. Crowe is known for working closely with the Inquisition. His most famous trait is his ability to “Vanish into the Gloom” His unit arrived in the Rentlaw Sub-Sector as part of Task Force Omega, and they have been part of the Imperial effort since the tough early setbacks. Working with Inquisitor Gordianus and his Stormtroopers, there is every expectation that Crowe can turn the war around and accomplish deeds that will go down in the annals of the Raven Guard Space Marine Chapter.

Grand Master Aiden Perdon
Grey Knights Space Marine Chapter

Grand Master Perdon has taken a unique path to his place in the Grey Knights. The legends say that he was trained and developed by a now extinct chapter of Space Marines. He was an experiment for this Chapter, a unique specimen, infused with a strand of DNA from the Emperor himself.  This awoke psychic powers so strong in Perdon, that Choas Demons were drawn to the chapter’s homeworld and in a frenzy of malice and hate the whole chapter, was destroyed. Perdon was the only survivor.  His miraculous escape is attributed to the Emperor’s DNA. Perdon wandered the galaxy, alone and uncertain of his purpose, until he heard the psychic call of Kaldor Draigo, Chapter Master of the Grey Knights.

Draigo sent his knights to find Perdon, and once they made contact with him and his amazing origins were verified, they welcomed him as a brother. They trained him in the psychic arts, focusing on Pyromancy.

He has fought with distinction for decades, and the “Rise of Tyranny” campaign is his first action as a Grand Master. He carries no sidearm, but has a lifelong companion, a vicious two headed eagle from earliest days with his original chapter.
