Valle De Los Brujos: Episode 1, The Bank Job

Background
A bright flash, and suddenly over half a dozen hardened criminals were standing outside the “Fed-Union Bank” on St. Helena.

Juan Archuleta
2 minutes! Get in there and get to work.

A small figure was hiding deep in the shadows across the street. He had been waiting and preparing for a long time.  Alone among almost every being in Sector Six, he had been expecting these particular criminals. Not only had everyone else failed to connect the dots, they hadn’t even realized that the dots existed.

His name:
Sherlock Gnomes

Sherlock had placed a warp based destabilizer outside the bank and he activated it just as the gang teleported in.

Sherlock
… roaches check in, but they can’t check out.
He laughed to himself.

BATREP
(rules were Shadow Wars)
The mysterious criminal gang has to traverse about 3’ to get clear of Sherlock’s disturbance and teleport out. Sherlock starts out alone but reinforcements will arrive every Turn as he calls in help.

The gang spreads out and sends “Dozer” up high to cover the street

The Detectives from “The Townsend Agency” arrive and a firefight erupts

Turtle and Earth Baby are caught in the open and go down

But Sherlock is spotted and Dozer manages to put a round in him

The shots are flying fast and heavy when Lt. Gordon and Officer Jones pull up to the side street and open fire from the flank

Then Ignacio Archuleta wings Farrah of the Townsend Detectives
and the Sherlock faction bottles out.

The Bank Robbers make their escape...

Aftermath
As Sherlock is recovering from his wound, he turns the mystery over and over in his mind...
Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth....

Yeah right, that doesn’t really apply in a universe when “the impossible” is impossible to define

What did I learn from my advesaries? Where are they from, and how far are they capable of teleporting?
Next time we will be better prepared.

    1. IFrom a couple of posts back, this storyline is based on a real place in New Mexico.

      Truth is stranger than fiction.

    1. It was a nice little mission, but everyone was rolling so hot, we only played 3 turns.

  3. Neat setup. You're making me seriously consider breaking Necromunda back out and actually figuring out how to play the thing proper-like.

    1. Nah, Pulp Alley is a better game.
Like many gamers, I am limited by what my buddies will play. SW/Necromunda isn't a bad game and most of my club will play it. Pulp Alley is too far a reach for them, but it is hands down a better set of rules.

    2. In a lot of ways I'm still learning. I love PA, but there are some things it seems to lack in granularity: there doesn't seem to be a lot separating a sniper rifle from a sawed off shotgun, for instance. A lot of the (minor) objections can be solved with a little care, but will fixing them damage the things that PA gets right? I suspect you're right and that PA is probably the more elegant game for a narrative play style event. I assure you, I'm not going to give it up. I just bought a new deck of cards, in fact, as my last one has gone AWOL. There seem to be a few folks around here willing to try my little experiments, so I'll keep messing about with it. I promise. :)

    1. Thanks Generalissimo
I've spent time making my buildings more "griblie" with fire escapes and platforms. Thanks for noticing :)
